Discovery Festival is a nighttime festival with live scientific research, ultra short talks, science-related art, a high quality music programme, and a lot of mostly young and always enthusiastic scientists and artists. Apparently, we are not the only ones who enjoy a night out with food for thought, and science between DJ sets: from the first night in 2006, we have had a full venue every year, including last years recordbreaking (1700 people) edition.
The broad and varied programme includes over 30 activities: live scientific research directly involving researchers in contact with the visitors, an art exhibition with selected bio-art related works, and a music programme on the top floor and in the main hall with dj’s and sound architects. Some highlights: Mobile Eye Tracker, Brain Computer Interface for Music, The Body Lab, Cardboard Robot Battle, Renkas (live), MacGyver Science, Citizen Sience, Fellow (live) and many more.

Only 10% of the programme is in Dutch. The music, the art, the installations and the scientific experiments are in an universal language or hosted by people who speak English… and most of our volunteers are from abroad as well!
Discovery Festival takes place on Friday september 23th between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m at NEMO, the big green science museum at Oosterdok (near Central Startion). Tickets can be bought at the door for 17,00 euro.
